Work With Teacher Area

Today I am going to talk about my work with teacher area. This is the area in the classroom where I will work one on one with the students to work on their IEP goals as well as other goals that I feel would help them in the classroom.
This area is set up like the other areas. My students need to heave every part of their day structured. This needs to include the different work areas in the classroom. For work with teacher they need to have a schedule on what they work on during this time. Their schedule is on the left side of the table. This includes the numbers 1-3. These are the numbers that they will match to the numbered buckets on the desk. They will pull out the task we will work on the task together and then I will have them complete it independently with me correcting their mistakes as they work. They will complete 10 trials for the task them put it in the finished basket on the left. They will complete each of the three activities and then check their schedule for the next activity.

What activities do you work on with the student. I begin by looking at their IEP goals. Once I know what their goals are, I will either create activities for them to learn. These will be for math, reading, language arts, writing, and daily living skills. Once they learn these skills, then I will place them in their independent work stations to practice these tasks. Also when working with the students I like to place the student on the left side of me by a wall so they are unable to run away. I have some students that will sometimes become upset when it is time to work so they would scoot their chair out and try to run. This will help keep them in the area and focused.
